"Mr. Alemann," is a documentary of filmmaker Johanna Alemann (1923-2012) by Stewart Nestor. Maker of 20 films on subjects ranging from history to art (19 of which are viewable on the Internet Archive), Johanna Alemann is believed to be the first woman filmmaker, operating as a sole proprietor, to run an academic film company in North America. This film won awards in 2022 at the Seattle Film Festival (Best Short Documentary), Tri-Cities Film Festival (Best Short Documentary), Southern Shorts Film Festival (Short Documentary of Excellence) and the Creation International Film Festival (Judges Choice Award).
